About Me

Bridging quantitative genetics, breeding, and data science.

I work at the intersection of genomics, predictive modeling, and plant breeding to turn complex biological data into actionable insights for crop improvement.

My research focuses on developing robust statistical and computational approaches that support smarter breeding decisions and accelerate innovation in agriculture.

My Research Focus

Exploring the intersection of quantitative genetics, predictive analytics, and crop improvement.

Genomic Prediction & Modeling

Optimizing breeding efficiency through advanced statistical modeling and predictive analytics.

  • Evaluate and implement predictive models including GBLUP, BayesB, and rrBLUP.
  • Utilize advanced R packages such as asreml, sommer, and GAPIT.
  • Analyze large-scale multi-environment trial data.
  • Leverage SLURM and Bash for computationally intensive mixed-model analyses.

Sorghum Genetic Architecture

Investigating the genetic mechanisms that drive adaptation and yield.

  • Characterize global sorghum genetic diversity.
  • Investigate Ma loci and flowering-time regulation.
  • Study adaptation and regional performance.
  • Analyze phenotypic plasticity across environments.

Data Science in Agriculture

Building pipelines that transform genomic data into breeding decisions.

  • Develop pipelines using R, Python, and Bash.
  • Process VCF and PLINK datasets.
  • Produce publication-quality visualizations using ggplot2.
  • Translate computational outputs into actionable agricultural insights.

Leadership & Scientific Communication

Serving as Co-chair for the 2026 Nebraska Plant Science Symposium has been a highlight of my PhD journey. It provided a unique platform to step into a leadership role, collaborate with an incredible organizing committee, and drive meaningful scientific communication.

Bringing together voices from both academia and the agricultural industry to discuss the future of plant genetics reinforced my passion for not just conducting research, but building the collaborative environments that allow us to share it.
